Eight companies qualified for Vertical Systems Group’s (VSG) year-end 2021 leaderboard for wavelength services in the United States. The leaderboard report measures wavelength services market share.
It is the first time VSG has offered a leaderboard on wavelength services. VSG defines a wavelength circuit as one that provides a Layer 1 dedicated bidirectional gigabit-speed optical fiber connection between two sites. The leaderboard covers both retail and wholesale sales.
To qualify, a company must have a 1% or higher share of U.S. wavelength circuits. In order of circuit share held, the leaderboard consists of Lumen, Zayo, Verizon, AT&T, Arelion (formerly Telia Carrier), Windstream, Crown Castle and Cox.
“U.S. demand for wavelength services is rising to support mission-critical applications that require assured performance, deterministic latency and gigabit speed connectivity,” VSG principal Rick Malone said in a press release . “Our forecasts show double digit growth this year, driven by high demand for 100 Gbps wavelength circuits.”
